middle schools
Between elementary, high
Middle schools are educational institutions serving students between elementary school and high school, typically grades six through eight.
The term reflects a philosophy of addressing the developmental needs of early adolescents—students roughly eleven to fourteen years old.
In some systems, junior high schools cover similar grades but follow a more traditional secondary school model.
