microtrend
Brief viral phenomenon
A microtrend is a short-lived or narrowly focused trend, smaller in scope or duration than broader cultural movements.
In fashion, social media, or consumer behavior, microtrends emerge quickly and fade just as fast: The cottagecore microtrend dominated TikTok for about three months.
The term often carries a slightly dismissive tone, suggesting something too fleeting to matter much.
