methought

It seemed to

Methought is an archaic past tense of "it seems to me," used to introduce something perceived or dreamed: Methought I heard a voice cry "Sleep no more!".

The word survives almost exclusively through Shakespeare and other early modern literature.

The present tense, methinks, is slightly more familiar.
