metallic element
Iron or copper
A metallic element is a chemical element that exhibits typical metal properties—electrical conductivity, luster, malleability, and the tendency to form positive ions.
Most elements on the periodic table are metallic: iron, copper, gold, aluminum, sodium.
The term distinguishes these from nonmetals like oxygen or carbon and metalloids like silicon.
