melon rind
Cantaloupe's outer layer
Melon rind is the tough outer skin of a melon, typically discarded after the flesh is eaten.
Watermelon rind is sometimes pickled or candied.
The rind may also refer to the firmer pale layer between the outer skin and the sweet inner flesh: She cut close to the rind to get every bit of fruit.
