medieval historian

Studies the Dark Ages

A medieval historian is a scholar who studies the Middle Ages, the period of European history roughly from the fall of Rome (5th century) to the Renaissance (15th century).

The term can also describe historians who lived during medieval times, though this sense is less common: Bede was a medieval historian in both senses—a monk writing history in the 8th century.
