Malaligned describes something improperly aligned or positioned incorrectly relative to where it should be.
The term appears most often in medical contexts—malaligned teeth, malaligned fractures, malaligned joints—where bones or body parts have shifted out of their normal arrangement.
Outside medicine, the word is rare; misaligned is the more common choice.
