ludicrous speed
Comically impossible quickness
Ludicrous speed comes from the 1987 comedy *Spaceballs*, where it names a velocity beyond light speed—itself a parody of *Star Wars* hyperspace.
The phrase now describes anything absurdly, comically fast: The project went from concept to launch at ludicrous speed.
Tesla later adopted it as an actual vehicle mode name, bringing the joke full circle.
