loser's bracket
Second-chance competition path
A loser's bracket is the section of a double-elimination tournament where competitors go after losing once.
Rather than being eliminated outright, they continue playing against other one-loss participants, with the bracket winner typically facing the winner's bracket champion for the title: He dropped to the loser's bracket after round two but fought his way back to the finals.
