Low-calorie margarine alternative
Light butter is butter with reduced fat content, typically containing about half the fat of regular butter by incorporating water, air, or other ingredients.
The term appears on packaging to signal a lower-calorie alternative: I use light butter when I'm watching my fat intake.
Because of its higher water content, light butter behaves differently in cooking and baking, where full-fat butter is usually preferred.
