level of detail

How specific something

Level of detail refers to how much information, specificity, or granularity something contains.

In conversation, you might ask for more or less level of detail depending on how much you need to know: Give me the high-level overview, not every level of detail.

In computing and video games, level of detail (often abbreviated LOD) describes how much visual complexity is rendered—distant objects get less detail to save processing power.

The phrase sometimes appears redundantly where "detail" alone would suffice.
