lens caps
Optic dust shields
Lens caps are protective covers that fit over camera lenses when not in use, shielding the glass from dust, scratches, and fingerprints.
Most snap or pinch onto the lens barrel.
Photographers habitually remove them before shooting and replace them after—though forgetting to remove them before pressing the shutter is a universal amateur mistake.
