lemon laws
Car buyer protections
Lemon laws are consumer protection statutes that provide remedies when a newly purchased product—typically a car—turns out to be defective.
If repeated repair attempts fail to fix significant problems, the manufacturer must replace the vehicle or refund the purchase price.
The name comes from lemon as slang for something defective: My new car was a lemon, but the lemon law got me a replacement.
