lead training
Tether walking practice
Lead training is teaching a dog or other animal to walk calmly on a leash without pulling, lunging, or resisting.
The lead (British term for leash) connects handler to animal, and proper training ensures the animal follows rather than drags: We spent weeks on lead training before she'd heel properly.
Also called leash training.
