Unwanted team addition
Last pick is the final selection in a draft or choosing process, often carrying implications of being least desirable.
In sports drafts, schoolyard team selections, or any sequential choosing, the last pick goes to whoever remains after everyone else has been chosen.
The phrase can sting: I was always last pick in gym class.
It sometimes implies underdog status, with potential for redemption: He was the last pick and ended up MVP.
