lap bar
Coaster safety device
A lap bar is the restraining bar that swings down across riders' laps on amusement park rides, holding them in their seats during loops, drops, and sharp turns.
Make sure the lap bar clicks into place before the ride starts.
The term extends to similar restraints on ski lifts and other conveyances.
