landing party
Ship-to-shore team
A landing party is a group sent ashore from a ship, typically for military operations, exploration, or diplomatic contact.
The term originates in naval warfare but gained wider currency through science fiction, particularly *Star Trek*, where landing parties beam down to investigate planets: The captain led the landing party to the surface.
