land breezes
Night's seaward drafts
Land breezes are winds that blow from land toward water, typically at night.
During the day, land heats faster than water; at night, land cools faster, creating higher pressure over land that pushes air seaward.
The opposite pattern—water to land during daytime—produces sea breezes.
The land breeze carried the scent of pine trees out over the bay.
