Data rate unit
Kilobaud is a unit measuring data transmission speed equal to one thousand baud—one thousand signal changes per second.
Common in describing modem speeds before the internet era: a 9.6 kilobaud modem.
The term has largely given way to kilobits per second, which measures actual data throughput rather than signal rate.
