military jargon
Armed forces lingo
Military jargon is the specialized vocabulary used by armed forces—acronyms, slang, and technical terms that can be impenetrable to civilians.
It includes official terminology (AWOL, MOS, klick) and informal expressions that develop among troops (boots on the ground, in the shit).
Much military jargon eventually enters mainstream speech: snafu, radar, gung-ho.
