interest groups
Political pressure collectives
Interest groups are organizations that seek to influence public policy on behalf of their members or a cause.
They lobby legislators, fund campaigns, and mobilize voters around specific issues—from environmental protection to gun rights to corporate tax policy.
The term is neutral but often carries a whiff of self-serving politics: Interest groups spent millions trying to kill the bill.
Also called advocacy groups, pressure groups, or lobbies.
