illegal screen
Prohibited blocking maneuver
In basketball, an illegal screen is a foul committed when an offensive player setting a screen moves into a defender's path, extends their body improperly, or fails to give the defender adequate space or time to avoid contact.
A legal screen requires the screener to be stationary with feet set; illegal screens involve movement, leaning, or hip-checking: The ref called an illegal screen on the pick-and-roll.
