housing boom
Real estate expansion
A housing boom is a period of rapid increase in home prices and construction activity, typically driven by high demand, easy credit, or speculation.
The phrase often carries a warning undertone, since booms frequently precede busts: The housing boom of the mid-2000s ended in widespread foreclosures.
Also called a real estate boom.
