houndstongue

Sticky-seeded pasture plant

Houndstongue is a weedy plant with rough, tongue-shaped leaves and small reddish-purple flowers.

The leaves supposedly resemble a dog's tongue.

Native to Europe and Asia, it has spread widely as an invasive species, producing burred seeds that cling to animal fur and clothing.

Also called hound's-tongue.
