hot-shot

Brash talented person

A hot-shot is someone who displays conspicuous skill or success, often with an air of self-importance: Some hot-shot lawyer from the city took over the case.

The term can be admiring or dismissive depending on tone—acknowledging talent while suggesting arrogance.
