homophonous
Same sound, different spelling
Homophonous describes words or sounds that are pronounced the same way. *Their* and *there* are homophonous—identical in sound, different in spelling and meaning.
The term applies in music to passages where voices or instruments move together in the same rhythm, as opposed to polyphonic textures where each line moves independently.
