home ranges
Species' living areas
Home ranges are the areas animals regularly occupy for feeding, mating, and raising young—distinct from territories, which are actively defended.
A home range describes where an animal actually goes, not what it claims: The wolf pack's home range covered two hundred square miles.
Home ranges may overlap with those of other individuals or groups.
