seasonal migrations
Weather-driven animal movements
Seasonal migrations are the regular movement of animals between regions at particular times of year, typically driven by changes in food availability, weather, or breeding needs.
Birds fly south for winter, whales travel to warmer waters to calve, caribou follow retreating snowlines.
The phrase also applies to humans who relocate predictably: snowbirds making their seasonal migration to Florida, workers following seasonal migrations to harvest crops.
