holy souls
Deceased awaiting paradise
Holy souls refers in Catholic tradition to the souls of the dead believed to be in purgatory, undergoing purification before entering heaven.
The faithful pray for these souls to ease their suffering and hasten their release: We offered Mass for the holy souls.
