hockey moms
Ice-sport chauffeurs
Hockey moms are mothers who devote significant time and energy to supporting their children's hockey activities—driving to early-morning practices, attending games, and organizing team logistics.
The term gained political currency when Sarah Palin used it in 2008 to characterize herself as a tough, working-class suburban mother.
Like soccer moms, hockey moms represent a demographic of engaged, middle-class parents, though the hockey variant suggests a scrappier, more combative spirit: Hockey moms are just soccer moms with a temper.
