historical monument
Preserved commemorative structure
A historical monument is a structure, building, or site preserved for its significance to the past—commemorating events, honoring figures, or representing cultural heritage.
Monuments range from ancient ruins to statues erected centuries later: The committee voted to designate the battlefield a historical monument.
Many countries maintain official registries protecting such sites from demolition or alteration.
