historical biography
Past person's story
A historical biography is a detailed account of a person's life set within the context of their era, examining how historical forces shaped the subject and how the subject influenced their times.
The genre blends biographical narrative with historical analysis: Her historical biography of Lincoln explored how the Civil War transformed his views on slavery.
