highbeam
Blinding oncoming setting
Highbeam refers to a vehicle headlight's brightest setting, designed for maximum visibility on dark roads without oncoming traffic.
The beam angles upward and outward rather than down toward the pavement.
Drivers switch to highbeams on unlit highways and back to low beams when other vehicles approach: She flashed her highbeams to warn of a speed trap ahead.
Usually spelled as two words: high beam or high beams.
