high crawl
Hands-and-knees movement
A high crawl is a military movement technique where the body stays low but elevated on hands and knees, allowing faster progress than a belly crawl while still reducing exposure to enemy fire.
The torso remains parallel to the ground with weight on palms and knees: We used a high crawl to cross the open ground between buildings.
Distinct from the low crawl, where elbows and legs drag along the surface.
