Winters in dormancy

Hibernates is the verb form of hibernate, meaning to pass the winter in a dormant state.

Bears, groundhogs, and certain other animals hibernate, drastically reducing their metabolism to survive months without eating.

The word extends to anyone withdrawing from activity for an extended period: I basically hibernate until spring.
