head-ons
Direct impact wrecks
Head-ons are collisions in which vehicles strike each other front to front, typically while traveling in opposite directions.
The term emphasizes the direct, forceful nature of impact: Three people died in the head-on.
Head-ons are among the most dangerous types of crashes because the speeds combine rather than cancel.
