harmonisation

Bringing into agreement

Harmonisation is the British spelling of harmonization—the process of making things consistent or compatible.

In music, harmonisation means adding accompanying parts to a melody.

More commonly, it refers to aligning standards, rules, or practices across different systems: EU harmonisation of trade regulations, harmonisation of accounting standards across countries.

The goal is reducing friction caused by differences.
