group plan
Shared coverage arrangement
A group plan is an insurance or benefit arrangement offered to members of a defined group—typically employees of a company, members of an organization, or union workers—rather than to individuals separately.
Group plans usually offer lower premiums and broader coverage because risk is spread across many participants: The company's group plan covers dental and vision.
The term applies most often to health insurance but extends to life insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
