dog shows
Canine beauty pageants
Dog shows are competitive events where purebred dogs are judged against breed standards for appearance, movement, and temperament.
Judges evaluate conformation—how closely a dog matches the ideal for its breed.
The phrase also describes any spectacle of canine behavior: The park was a dog show every Saturday morning.
