grease traps
Kitchen drain filters
Grease traps are plumbing devices that intercept fats, oils, and grease before they enter a wastewater system.
Installed in restaurant and commercial kitchen drains, they prevent clogs and sewer backups by allowing grease to cool and solidify while water passes through: The health inspector cited the restaurant for not cleaning its grease traps.
Also called grease interceptors.
