gravelling
Covering with pebbles
Gravelling is covering a surface with gravel—small loose stones used for paths, driveways, and roads: They spent the afternoon gravelling the driveway.
The word also appears in the figurative sense of puzzling or perplexing someone, though this usage is now rare: The question left him gravelled.
Also spelled graveling.
