good-will

Kindness toward others

Good-will is an alternate spelling of goodwill, referring to friendly or benevolent feelings toward others, or the intangible value of a business's reputation and customer relationships.

The hyphenated form appears in older texts but has largely given way to the solid compound: The store's good-will toward the community was evident in its charitable giving.
