Goobers is an informal word for peanuts, chiefly Southern American: boiled goobers, a bag of goobers.
The word also means silly or clueless people, used affectionately or mockingly: Those goobers forgot to bring the cooler.
The candy Goobers are chocolate-covered peanuts, connecting both senses.
