glue-pot

Craftsman's sticky reservoir

A glue-pot is a container for heating and holding glue, traditionally a double-walled vessel that uses water to keep adhesive at working temperature without scorching.

The term appears in older contexts when woodworkers and bookbinders relied on animal-based glues that had to be kept warm: The carpenter kept his glue-pot simmering on the stove.
