glide bomb
Coasting aerial weapon
A glide bomb is an unpowered bomb with aerodynamic surfaces—wings or fins—that allow it to travel horizontally after release rather than dropping straight down.
This lets aircraft release ordnance from safer distances, outside the range of enemy defenses.
Modern glide bombs often include GPS guidance for precision strikes: The aircraft deployed glide bombs from twenty miles out.
