Sunny woodland gaps
Glades is the plural of glade—open spaces in forests where sunlight reaches the ground through breaks in the tree canopy.
These clearings often feature different vegetation than the surrounding woods: We picnicked in one of the glades along the trail.
The Everglades, Florida's vast wetland, takes its name from the word, though those "glades" are marshy expanses rather than forest clearings.
