giant ant
Huge colony crawler
A giant ant is an ant of unusual size, appearing in science fiction, horror films, and fantasy settings where insects grow to monstrous proportions: The giant ants in the movie were created by nuclear radiation.
The concept plays on the unsettling qualities of ordinary ants—their alien appearance, hive behavior, and strength relative to size—amplified to threatening scale.
