garden worm
Underground soil aerator
A garden worm is any of several earthworms commonly found in garden soil, where they aerate the earth and break down organic matter.
Gardeners value them for improving soil health: The garden was full of fat garden worms after the rain.
The term is informal and interchangeable with earthworm in casual use.
