funny papers
Sunday strip collection
The funny papers are the comics section of a newspaper, containing comic strips and cartoons.
The term dates from when newspapers were the primary medium for serial comics.
Now somewhat old-fashioned: Dad always read the funny papers with his Sunday coffee.
Also called the funnies.
