freeze-dried fruit
Crispy preserved fruit
Freeze-dried fruit is fruit that has been preserved by rapidly freezing it, then removing moisture through sublimation in a vacuum.
The process leaves fruit lightweight, shelf-stable, and crunchy while retaining much of its original flavor and nutrients: The trail mix had freeze-dried strawberries in it.
Unlike dehydrated fruit, which is chewy, freeze-dried fruit shatters when bitten.
